Sad Angel

I took these pictures yesterday. I thought that I'd share them.

  1. Sad, perhaps. But I also see great humility in the posture and expression.

  2. Yes, I thought it was very moving when I gazed upon it.

  3. The Victorians knew more about the sad side of life than we. They understood the meaning of death and faced it with the recognition of sorrow and it's place in creation. Their beautiful memorials like these pictures, are regarded as sentimentality in this age, but they were not so regarded then. I think, in spite of the jaded age in which we live, we can still appreciate the beautiful art of the Victorians. I use it exclusively as my blog illustrations. Very moving photos, Betsy.

  4. Thanks Count Sneaky. I like walking around these statues whenever I can. To me they are very peaceful.
